for Anxious, Frustrated, Reactive and Aggressive dogs - Initial Consult - £95
Behaviour problems, from aggression to separation anxiety, cause a lot of stress for dog and owner alike. At Make Your Mark we understand that because we have experienced behaviour problems in our own dogs. But the good news is, with a training and management plan, almost all issues can be lessened or resolved.
We are here to support you, help your dog and improve your lives in the kindest ways possible, and here is how...
What is a Stooge Dog?
A Stooge Dog is a dog we know and trust, either our own personal dogs or that of long-term students, that we use in a controlled manner to teach your dog a better way of behaving in the presence of unknown dogs. These Stooge Dogs are far more predictable than us just going out and about with unknown dogs and owners, as we can control the distance, how active the dogs are and we can pair your dog up with Stooge Dogs that perfectly suit their needs.
Our initial 1-2-1s take place at the Hamworthy Club, which gives us the opportunity to create a controlled environment wherein we can use our own stooge dogs (more info about them here!) and people we trust to simulate real life. Later sessions can take place in your house, or in an environment you choose. Our initial behaviour 1-2-1 costs £95.
How does our Behavior Modification work?
Our behaviour modification packages are designed to give you and your dogs a new lease of life. Most people add a dog to their family to bring joy, so it is very difficult and upsetting when our dogs cause us stress and sadness. We totally understand that, and have been in your shoes as we also own dogs that have shown varying levels of reactive behaviour.
We all love our dogs, but we understand that when it comes to finding a behaviourist it can be a minefield, with so many trainers offering contrasting advice. But from resource guarding, human aggression and dog aggression to generalised anxiety, noise sensitivity and in-house reactivity, our qualifications and experience mean that we should be able to provide you with the advice and support you need.
We use the science-based concepts of counter-conditioning, Behaviour Adjustment Training and disengagement to modify dogs' behaviour. In more simple terms, we use kind, minimally stressful, minimally invasive methods of treating dogs' emotions. This means we don't just stop them from showing symptoms such as barking or biting, but we help them become happier, more confident individuals.
Our methods aren't just quick fixes, but they yield lasting results. It has been scientifically proven that quick fix, punishment-based training is far less effective than finding the cause of the problem behaviour and working on it one step at a time, which makes sense when you think about it!
Additionally, we teach you why your dog is behaving the way they do by taking a frame-by-frame look at their body language , meaning that you can recognise when they are stressed and take action before anything bad happens. We provide practical management and training techniques that you can apply in all situations to help improve you and your dog's quality of life.

What People Say
"We have gone from both dogs not even being able to be in the same room together to them both being best buddies and playing sleeping together. For that I'm truly grateful as I know one of our boys would have had to be rehomed which would have broken our hearts"
